Latest Fishing & Camping Information
Dry Season - August 2008
The dry season has continued on through August. The nights are still cool and there are still some foggy mornings with clear cloudless days to follow. This makes camping an enjoyable experience.
The fishing has remained good throughout the month despite some really low water temperatures early in the day. The best fishing has been from the 'S' bends upstream with the Golden Mile and Charlies Creek being popular with anglers.
Lures in the fluoro green , 'guns & roses' and 'nitro' colours have been good producers. Barra Classics and Killalures in the 8 to 10ft range have been working well.
Rubber lures are also working well in the snags with the larger styles proving successful.
As the river drops in height the main sandbars are becoming more exposed. Care needs to be taken in these areas as the river channels change depths over the tidal range.
Passage through Browns Creek is fine but care must be taken on very low water. A good method on your 1st outing is to do a drift through Browns to check the available channel. Travel from half tide up is okay.
